Why do the wines of this region like us so much?
We give three reasons to support this taste:
1 they are a single variety wines: Tinta Fina, a strain that has features that make it the best of Spain.
2 wines of much color and attractive to the eye, with varied aromas, medium body and high alcohol content.
3. the wines from this region are reliable and have achieved a standard of quality that distinguishes them.

This week we participated in a tasting of wines from Ribera del Duero, where 5 wines were tasted:
Altamimbre harvest 2011 and booking 2011, Bodegas Carramimbre Pingon.
Adaro Crianza Bodegas 2011 Prado Rey.
Figuero 12 wineries Crianza 2010 Figuero.
Torralvo harvest 2010 Bodegas Vizcarra
All wines had lot of alcoholic strength. All colorful, all strongly tannic, but different in its sensory expression. For my personal taste, the last two were distinguished by being more balanced and finest wines.
The tasting was organized by the sommelier Carla Ruiz that, as always, everything was on time and on place. David Seijas, young sommelier with a great experience for his work at the famous restaurant El Bully and elsewhere in London and Barcelona, gave us a nice view of Ribera del Duero, as well as a fun and comprehensive information of the wines tasted.

Ribera del Duero wineries are the norm of good wine, with less quantity and more quality. Until 40 years ago the only known wine Vega Sicilia, since then it was listed as the best Spanish wine. Don Jesús Anadon, Manager of this Winery and Pablo Peñalba López, Manager of Torremilanos, succeeded in the denomination of origin in 1982.
The tinto Pesquera, Alejandro Fernández, born in 1975, a different wine to those who did at the time, who managed to scale the heights of Fame, due to its quality. I think that the personality of Alejandro Fernández can be compared to Robert Mondavi in the sense that Mondavi was the example of wine to develop the Valley of Napa and Alejandro Fernández of Ribera del Duero. After the creation of their respective warehouses, when there were only a few in the region, gradually many other winemakers followed his example by opening wineries focused on the production of quality wines. Now there are about 400 wineries with 1500 brands of wine.
